I had a few glasses a day up until I confirmed my status with a HPT. I missed my period, so I took a test. The first one was negative, so I beleived it and had 2 glasses of red wine as I always do with dinner. The next day, I still felt weird, and no period, so I test again and this time, it was positive. So, I am scared I maybe have ruined the baby. I had no idea I was pregnant!!

You are ok. The more you stress about it the worse. Just stop drinking now and nothing will come of it. MOst women do not know anything until they miss their period. Just relax and everything will be fine. good luck.

With my middle daughter I had no idea I was pregnant and it was July 4th, we had a huge get together with friends I hadn't seen in years, there was a pool, a hot tub, lots of food and tons of alcohol. I don't drink much as it is, but my husband had our oldest at the time and I was free to do what I wanted. I got so wasted! Like I said, I don't drink much, but we were having a fantastic time and it was July 4th and anyway, about a week later I found out I was 6 weeks pregnant. I was horrified! I immediately asked my doctor if I had harmed my baby because I had so much to drink that night, he said Fetal Alcohol Syndrome is caused by persistant drinking throughout the early stages of pregnancy. Your wine shouldn't be an issue. There are some doctors who will tell you that a few glasses of red wine during a pregnancy are actually beneficial to you, although I'm not sure of the reason. Babies are extrememly resiliant and if I were you I wouldn't worry at all about complications because of wine, it happens to women all the time, especially if they get a negative test, I mean, why wouldn't you believe it! Relax and try to not to stress over it. Good luck and congrats to you on the baby!!!

calm down. Even during pregnancy it is considered okay to drink a glass of wine or two every once in a while. It is true that there is no proven level of safe alcohol consumption, but drinking is unlikely to hurt your baby unless you indulge too much or way to often. Since you are barely pregnant, your baby is growing from hormones, not the placenta, which means alcohol does not have nearly the effect on baby as it will later in your pregnancy. Stop now if you are uncomfortable with drinking during pregnancy, but fear not, the chances you have hurt your baby at this point are very very very slim. Congrats and best of luck to you.

First, calm down. Second, give up the wine. The reason they tell you not to drink that stuff is because it COULD hurt the baby. Doesn't mean it WILL.

If you stop now, you cut down on the chance that it'll "ruin" the baby. Yes, your future child is fragile at the moment. But don't fret about it, because there's nothing you can do to change your past actions. Just concentrate on the Here and Now, and don't worry about what Might happen Later because of what you did Before.

you will be fine. A few glasses arent going to hurt the baby at this early stage of the game, but don't keep drinking (especially like that).

Know what I did for the first two months of my pregnancy? I drank boat loads of mountain dew thinking that since it wasn't the color of coke that it wouldn't have all that caffeine. ha! I was worried too when I found out Mountain Dew has more caffeine than coke. ---PS why I never read the label is beyond me.

Anyway, my daughter is 14 years old and carries a 4.29 grade point average in high school.

A few glasses of wine this early in the game aren't going to hurt your baby.

Here's the deal, I am so confident in that advice that I will tell you what my doctor said to me when I was worrying my head off over chemicals and stuff...

He said, "Go have a glass of wine and relax, your stress has more potential for harm than a glass of wine does."

As an older person. They say all the time that back in the day they use to have a glass of wine here and there. Im thinking it should be fine.

The thing is, they don't really know exactly what causes FAS (fetal alcohol syndrome). Some mothers will drink all through pregnancy with no ill effects on the baby. Some will binge once or twice and end up with no ill effects. But other mothers will either drink lightly throughout or binge and have horrible effects.

You just don't know.

All that being said, there's nothing you can do about it now. Move forward maintaining as healthy a lifestyle as you possibly can and keep positive thoughts.

And ignore people who call you names and type in all capital letters.

Your doctors will do testing for abnormalities... I also drank- only a little though the first couple of weeks of my pregnancy without knowing I was. I turned out having a 9lb 10oz very healthy baby! I would stay away from drinking though now that you know... they do say any small amount could do harm to the baby- they just don't know how much could affect it. So once I knew, i didn't drink at all, and cut back on caffeine entirely. Goodluck, and congrats!

As a mother of 3 and having read a lot on this no you have not hurt the baby but i must say that you should what the consumption of wine after this until you have the baby. some doctors have said that to drink wine (not whiskey's) could help to relax you a little but not to over do it . I hope you have a wonderful experance with your pg. and that all goes well.

Regardless of what these other people have said, drinking alchohol while pregnant is never a good idea. But you didn't know so you just have to make sure you don't continue to drink. The U.S. Surgeon General says that any consumption of alcohol puts your baby at risk of having Fetal Alcohol Syndrom. The best thing you can do is not stress about it and your doctor will monitor how your baby is doing along the way. Good luck!
