(ie: gay, black, women, hispanic?) And why do they seek collective political advantage in a nation where strong individuals are the ones who succeed? I look at the democrats and I don't see a party who really looks out for these groups as much as they just seek their votes.

Groups right or wrong, Democratic or Republican are stronger than any indivisual. An intelligent person knows to conform rather than to lead is the easiest and the safest route. Now-a-day there are very few leaders. Those in power tend to want to kill off any leader that does not go with their plan. It takes Heart to lead we just haven't bred any leaders lately. Just a bunch of conformist.

Its called safety in numbers. IF the American voters would vote in mass, you know, exercise their Constitutional right to vote, it would send a very clear message of what the majority of Americans really want.

Most political groups, wine and dine these other groups, and try to get support. Its amazing that if you promise these people what they want to hear, they will vote for you and then, you don't have to follow thru with your promise.

Its a fancy way to buy votes, just most of the promises that are made, are never kept. All these special interest groups are easily taken in by a smooth talking politician.

Further to my previous answer to your question, I think you would enjoy the following commentators:H. L. Mencken, the Chicago based journalist of the 1920's; Auberon Waugh, the British journalist who died a few years ago and Robert Hughes, who wrote a book on the subject, "Culture of Complaint".

I was born a woman. Didn't get corraled into it. It has something to do with conception and genetics and biology. Collective political advantage doesn't come with gender. Sorry.

The same could be said for Republicans, my friend. The Democrats don't have the market cornered on hypocrisy.
