A centuries-old antique clock that I inherited, an oil painting that was given to my father when he was a child (I cannot describe the haunting beauty of this painting), a photograph of my spouse as a child, a wooden cross hand-carved for me by a clergyman on the occasion of my confirmation, and a musical instrument that I can't even play, but was hand made for me by my father.

As in personal possessions? Well, none of these things have much monetary value at all, but I have these five things which mean a lot to me: A rosary given to me by my uncle who later committed suicide, a statue of Mary in my garden put there by my late stepfather, a watch given to me as a gift by my lover (even if that watch breaks down, I'll never get rid of it), a portrait of me painted by a close friend, and a very old picture of the Sacred Heart of Jesus that was brought over from Europe when the family came to America.

A strand of pearls handed down for generations in my family, an antique globe in my father's office that I was fascinated with as a child (he has since given it to me, but it still remains in his office) , a box of various memorabilia from my boarding school, old sheet music given to me by my grandmother, and another box of memorabilia (ticket stubs, programs, etc) from various recitals and symphonies I've either attended or performed in.
