Milder temperatures are ideal for laying brick and block. Just make sure the temperatures do not go below freezing at night for a few days after the block has been laid. Any temperature between 40 and 70 degrees F is ideal. Too hot with low humidity and the mortar sets up before it reaches maximum strength. Too cold and it freezes before reaching ideal strength.

Good luck with your block project.

60F is perfect. The mortar stays pliable for a long time. Don't forget to wet the block before you place it. That keeps it from sucking all the water out of the mortar too quickly.

as long as it is not freezing outside u can set block.if it is freezing u can tarp the area to be blocked and use turbo blower heaters to keep the tarped area warm enough to lay the block.u just dont want the water to freeze in the morter.this will cause the morter to crack and fall out.

i have seen 2 story houses tarped to where they were hidden.
