Hello,
I am 53 years old. I do not IM but when I write a note at work I always draw a goofy smiley face at the end. I think it tells the reader that I don't take myself too seriously.

I've actually had a whole chat with someone only using emoticons and the scary thing is, we knew exactly what the other meant.

properly those days I went right into a communicate room as "stupidcatsgotmytongue" & carried on a communique with someone using in difficulty-free words emoticons...It replaced into relaxing for a minute yet there is in difficulty-free words a lot you are able to truly say..

i cant chat without smileys! in chat u cant see the person so using smileys helps ya understand the persons feelings !!! its GOOD

I do not use them, when you are 40+, they take away those keys automatically.
