We really need to know what type of e-mail program you are using to receive and send mail. Whether you are using a web based e-mail program like Yahoo! or Windows Live, or if you are using a client based such as Outlook, Outlook Express, Endora, etc.
However, as you said you received the e-mail and opened the attachement without any problems I am assumming you are not using Outlook or Outlook Express, as both of those severely limit which file extensisions are allowed to be opened in them. File attachments such as .txt, .doc, and many other Microsoft Office Program extensisions are not allowed to be opened via Outlook or Outlook express due to how many people send malicious attachments.
So, this means you are either using a different client based e-mail program like Endora, or such or a web based program like Yahoo! or Windows Live Mail. OK, there is really no need to change the file name, as just clicking the save button or the save as if you are saving it for the first time as when you attach the file a copy is left in your My Documents when sending an attachment or in your My Music when sending a music attachment, or in My Video when sending a video attachement, etc.
It is simply really, open the e-mail in which you received the attachment. Click "reply", click "attach" and browse to your My Docments or if you want you can drag and drop the file to your Desktop and browse to your Desktop, click Open, then click Attach. Now click Send, and off it will go to the e-mail address your teacher sent this from. Make sure that the address in the header is the one in the Send To box, so it gets directed properly. There you are finished, good luck and have a great day.

You need to "save" it with a new name. Save it in your "my documents" folder, or on your desktop, wherever you can find it easy. Then send an email, and there should be a place where you can "add an attachment" or something like that. Click that, and it will ask you for the location of the file. Find the file, click "attach" or whatever your email program says, then when it says "done" or whatever, click send. It should work that way. Otherwise, go to your paper, go to "edit", go to "select all". Then go back to "edit", click "copy". Then go to your email program and start an email. in the box where you write the email, click with the right button of your mouse and left-click on "paste". Your paper should show up in your email right there! That's the easiest way, once you get the hang of it.

You must have saved that clip somewhere, just get the path right then go to your yahoo email then click at compose mail and then click at attach files and when you see the browse button click at that and open the file from where you had saved it and then click attach and you are done, now check back below where you type address you will see that file saved with file size.

If your Outlook is set up correctly you can E-mail it from word. If you have the correct tool bar you should have an E-mail icon in word that will open up an E-mail format. It will have the document attached then you just need to enter in the E-mail address and click send. Let me know if this helps.

When you opened your teacher's attachment, the file was opened in the Temporary file folder.
To preserve the file properly, after you have made your modifications, go to "file", and click on "save as..." Then save it in your chosen folder under your own file name.
To email it back, hit "reply" when you are on your teacher's e-mail, then attach the file that you have saved and named. Your email account should have an "attach" button, then you will hit the "browse" button, then select your folder and file.
Hope this helps, and good luck.
