A bleeding ear is usually from a very bad ear infection. Its usually has puss and wax along with the blood making it look worse than it really is.You should take him to a dr right away to make sure it is indeed an infection and to get the proper antibiotic drops for it.Untill you can get him to a dr make sure you give him a pain reliever such as Tylenol or Motrin especially if he has a fever witch also indicates infection. Its not something that should be left untreated because serious problems could occur if its not an infection or if something is ruptured.Or if he has had alot of ear infections or problems in the past.

You will want to take him to the hospital if the bleeding is more than a couple of drops because he may have somehow manage to rupture his ear drum. Unfortuantely without the proper knowledge or devices it is impossible to know for sure what has happened and you would not want to leave anything to chance. It could be as simple as some type of infection but what if it isn't? I hope he feels better soon, good luck to you.

If your ears are bleeding, it infers a break in the skin exposing a blood vessel to the outside. Considering the ear is not the cleanest place in the body, this could be a source of infection, and ear infections can also lead to temporary or permanent deafness.

I would agree with everyone else.. please take him to the doctor. The one thing I would rule out if I was in a mad panic would be: If his ear is still bleeding let a drop go onto a piece of glass or a mirror. If you see a halo of clear around the blood spot it could be VERY serious. THis is called the "halo effect" and it deals with the nervous system. Regardless, take him to the doctor just to rule everything out. It's probably just a severe infection that can be taken care of with medicine.

Take him to the doctor, he has a burst ear drum. Go to the ER. If left untreated, hearing loss is a real possibility. He needs antibiotics for the infection, and pain killers for the pain.
