If you two are truly in love then I don't see any problem because love and marriages can flourish anywhere in the world and not here in England as you seem to assume. It is because of that reason that maybe they refused to give you a visa.
Go and make a new start in Tunisia with your wife and you can still come back to visit her folks. You are merely grieving as if there aren't any married couples in Tunisia, be happy that you have someone who loves you, unless of course, if she doesn't want to leave England, which proves your marriage to be fake.
Everyone wishes you happiness, remember, happiness is not brought about by a visa. Life can be miserable to both of us with or without visas, English and non-English.

Are you in Britain or somewhere else? If you are in Britain, you have to make the application to Home Office, not the embassy. If you are not in Britain, then you have to go to the embassy with the same application. Either case, you have to show then documents to prove that the relationship lead to marriage was genuine and marriage certificate, photos of wedding, etc. If you've lived together, then you can show them letters/bills to you and her sent to the same address. You also have to tell them how long you have been together.
If you guys are already legally married now, then they really shouldn't refuse your application, but I know they do things like that sometimes. If they have given you a right to appeal (check your letter of refusal) then you really should re-apply.
I also recommend you to hire agencies, that can help you to get the visa. There are many of those who can do it on no win no fee bases, so check on the net and send them email explaining your situation. There is a charity called IAS (Immigration Advisory Service) they can help you too, even if you are not in UK. Also check UK visas and Home Office's web site for the details. Otherwise, try to come to UK as a student, then apply for it in UK.
I know how terrible it feels since I am in the similar kind of situation. Let me wish you good luck.

P.S. Remember, it can be a long battele. And there are so many ignorant people in UK who think immigrants are problems and they should stay in their own country. Don't listen to them. They have no idea why people leave where they are from.

Well your British wife would be more effective to prove your marriage is for love rather than you keep telling them. Don't worry. Love always win even though you have to wait for a while or maybe go back to your country and start the procedures from there...

this is not an easy one. Overturning a decision once they have made it could be difficult, and may take a long time. Are you ready for a long battle?

I'd say you need:
- some useful friends, like expatriate Brits that live near you, who can help check over your representations before you make them and possibly add their voice to yours
- a lawyer
- a visit from her parents. If possible, get a meeting with the British Consul and bring her parents along.

They will not grant you permanent residency until you have been together for two years, and they will check periodically to make sure you are living together as husband and wife. They do have the right to do this, it is to stop the surge in "marriages of convenience" for immigration. You will need to prove the relationship, through joint bank accounts, proof of address over that time etc, best thing I can suggest is to get in contact with the Immigration dept of the government and ask for guidance.

If you married for love then live in peace happily ever after IN TUNISIA!
The country you are in should not make a difference if it is real love and certainly will not ruin your family.

Stay there, be happy.

You got more chance to get into this country as a illegal immigrant, Tony Blair's goverment is more willing to help them than anyone who is genuine. Stay where u are this country is finished under the labour goverment.
