Not that I have a problem with it, I'm just concerned about my mans health. He already has high blood pressure, and has been fighting with his cholesterol as well. He used to be in excellent shape but since he retired from the navy, he has just let himself go. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I suggest getting him to exercise with you. Maybe eat healther. You can talk to him directly about it, but choose your words wisely, some people tend to get highly offended when you tell them they have gained weight. Hang in there and good luck.

Well, first of all this is your man, not some person you just do lunch with. You should be able to talk to him about anything. Just be gentle when you approach the subject, or better yet, tell him you want to get into better shape but that working out and dieting is so hard to do alone and you would love it if he joined in. Run together, be sure to cook healthier meals, ban fast food as a rule for your new fitness routine. Make his lunch for work to keep him from visiting fast food joints. Take walks together after dinner. Sign up for tennis lessons "just for fun". This way you won't have to worry about hurting his feelings. Hope this helps.

There's no real nice way to say it, but I would suggest talking things out first before you just be like You too fat or something like that. People are more likely to gain wieght because of personal issues or frustrations and stress. Because I am military, I feel what your husband is going through. Everyday at 0600 we are doing physical training and I'm already tired of it 5 years in. I think that with military retirees, it is natural for them to let themselves go for a little while and enjoy not working out. I would give him a couple more weeks or two and then talk to him about it.

My daughter-in-laws father was in the navy and I never have any problem telling him to get off his fat a** and get something he's asking someone else to get for him, and as usual what he wants is a second or third helping of what ever he's already eaten. Those Navy guys must be all a like and you have to tell them.

Make Healthier meals. and if he asks why are we eating this. say because you want to get healthy. And ask him to go for a walk with you, or jog. And if he asks why. say because you want to get in shape, and you dont want to go alone!! Dont tell him to lose weight, just do things with him to loose weight and get healthy
