I don't know about Syros in particular, but most Greek islands are very windy in the winter. If you are comming from a Northern country you might not think its very cold. Many days are sunny.
PS. If you are planning winter holidays avoid getting a boat to the island, prefer an airplane. Being in a boat for several hours in bad weather is not pleasant.

It depends on the winter...
Most times winter in Greece is mild, southern winds prevailing, making it warm, humid and sticky.
Some times however, it is really cold, there are strong northern winds which make you cold.
This winter it seems that it is going to be a mild one...
