if you are picking out of the current model years then the rx-8 is better. but if you are picking out of any year then the eclipse is the far better choice if you get one from around 1997 and back. that's when SOME were available with the lancer evo engine (4g63t). 2 litres of turbocharged all-wheel-drive bliss is what the eclipse was. as far as tuning the those model eclipses were so much more popular then the complex rotary engine in the mazda rx lineup. so if youre thinking about current model year cars, get the rx-8. neither is really worth tuning in my opinion. rx-8's rotary engine is just to complicated but is fun to drive and has enough power right out of the dealers lot. the eclipse has lost it's soul and

Well if you want it to actually have some power go with the RX-8. Unless you are planning on putting a Turbo on the Eclipse.

the mitsubishi is better..the mazda rx-8 is a toy! LOL you can give it to ur 4 year old!!

rx-8 is better by far. both are tunable, but you'd have to sink in far more with the eclipse. and the price on the 8 is better for the buck.

Eclipse looks better. Mazda looks weird. I don't know which would be better engine wise. I am assuming they are at the same level of quality.
The Infiniti G35 coupe takes both of these in looks and quality.
