all i hav is there old yahoo id it is imparative that i find this person , is there a way to find them from there old yahoo id?

Nope. You, my friend, are what we call S.O.L (sh!t outta luck).
Try finding this person on myspace or facebook or something of the like.

I'd have to say that if they wanted to be found by you they would've given you their new ID when they felt the need to leave their old one behind.

Just do an advanced search on Yahoo with their name
