I'm working on a school project where I can build anything I would like, providing that I can find a place that accually sells the materials I need. I've decided to build a zoo, but can not find a place that sells zoo animals. Anyone know of a zoo supply store or something of the sort that could tell me what I need?

Zoos are required to have extensive paperwork for each animal and animal transaction. Zoos sometimes "trade" animals between each other or purchase animals from each other. However, for your project, this is not very helpful. Depending on the types of animals you are looking for, there are a variety of other places to acquire zoo animals, but no one place to find them all. Petting zoo types of critters often come from farms, hobby farms, game farms, pet stores, surrendered pets, some rescues, and humane societies. I have worked at a humane society and now work at a zoo. If you want a bearded dragon for a reptile exhibit, try an animal shelter or pet store. Zoos are not rolling in money, and every profit is put right back into the zoo, so the most affordable solution is the best. Many exhibited animals are not planned. Someone dropped off a bucket with a grouper in it and the Shedd Aquarium ended up putting him on exhibit. Looking for a llama, try a llama breeder or hobby farm. Looking for white-tailed deer, try a game farm. Check the classifieds. If animals are not being handled by the public, you don't have to worry as much about someone selling a conure that bites (although your employees might!). I'm not sure how detailed your project must be - I designed a bird of prey rehabilitiation and education center for college where I had to mention what permits I would need. My suggestion: create a group-specific zoo. It'll make things easier. For example a reptile zoo, petting zoo, farm-style zoo, aquarium, bird zoo. I don't think you'll be able to find (legal) prices for a white bengal tiger or polar bear. Good luck.

i do no longer stay close to a zoo, yet as quickly as I had to undertake an animal i could prefer to undertake a klipbok "klipspringer". My feeling is that animals ought to stay of their organic habitat. Lise ok how can you look after a rhino quite one with a great horn.
