Theres this guy that won't leave me alone because I don't want to have a relationship with him. He has my cellphone number and aol name and he sends text messages calling me a wh*ore and s l u t everyday. He said he was gonna kill my friends and he also spreads rumors about me that aren't true and he somehow finds out where I am when I leave my house. I've tried ignoring him, telling him off and being nice to him but he won't leave me alone, this has been going on for quite some time now so I wanted to know if its hard to get a restraining order on him and if I do get one...can he still talk to my friends or family?

Getting a restraining order is a piece of cake. Check with the Family Law Facilitation Center in your local courthouse. Enforcing it is another matter. Good Luck.

The laws regarding restraining orders vary by state. I'm an attorney in California and I've seen courts issue restraining orders with less evidence than what you have. I just went to trial and got a restraining order in a case that was much less severe than yours. Consult a local attorney for more information.

It's not always easy. A woman in Missouri tried to get one and it was refused and one week later, the guy killed her. Make sure you have plenty of evidence as to why you want the order. Show your texts if you can. If he threatened your friends have them write a letter to state that. Why havent you changed your cell phone number yet? Same with your AOL. If you're that afraid, you'd do that. I know I would.

First start collecting evidence against him take a copy of every email he sends, take picture of him when he follows you and every time call the police. You will need some evidence to back the need for a restraining order but it sounds like you could get one.

I definitely would if I were you. Seeing as he's already on probation, it shouldn't be hard to convince them of the need for it

No, just hard to enforce them. Don't rely on the restraint order to protect you. Have other measures in place.
