A billboard advertises that a restaurant has more than 1000 varieties of pizza. If a plain pizza just has cheese and tomatoe sause, how many toppings does the resturant have?

Most likely 10. You can choose either to have a topping or not (a 2-way choice), so the problem basically becomes 2^x > 1000. Since 2^10 = 1024, that's the first power of 2 bigger than 1000.
