You can buy tea tree shampoo from the pet shop. It will have the correct dosage etc and you wont harm the cat. If you cant get it for the cat you can use either dog shampoo (at a lower dosage) or puppy shampoo (at the same dosage)

I have used iot on my cat and she was fine - i didnt get away without any scratches though (she doesnt like water) Ouch!

I have heard that Tea Tree Oil can be toxic to cats. Please do not try it. I personally use Dawn dish washing liquid to bathe my cats. I do spray vinegar on my carpets which surprisingly worked well. I have heard also that if you boil lemons let them steep, Pour the water with lemons that has been boiled into a spray bottle which you can spray on your cats for the fleas. I am in the process of doing this right now after my beloved cat suddenly died after applying Frontline. I now prefer to use home remedies that are safer for my cats than pesticides that can harm or even kill them. I wish you luck!

i've heard that using pine needles in ur pets bedding is a deterrent for fleas. i imagine the best way to do this would be to get some fresh pine needles, some fabric and some cotton wadding, and make a cover with the fabric, and fill it with the wadding and pine needles, making sure the needles cant poke ur cat. Also, i once used eucalyptus oil on my cats collar as a flea deterrent, and it seemed to work as well. Good luck!

Tea tree oil is toxic to rabbits so I wouldn't want to risk it. I understand that Frontline is very effective and safe for cats to rid them of fleas.

Yes, its safe but it won't get rid of the fleas. It only helps to ease the infection and irritation of a flea bite. To be on the safe side, along with the tea tree oil, buy your cat an inexpensive over-the-counter flea product.

Tea tree oil stop's nit's getting a grip, thats all - fleas are a completely different thing. I used to put bit's of garlic in the cat/dog food and if they eat it it stop's fleas cos they hate it - but the first defence pills are good, but they can be expensive, failing all else else brush her/his hair with a nit comb every night and wash it alot- you'll both have fun.x

Tea Tree oil wont stop the fleas.

Use it if they have been bitten and are bleeding - use Frontline for the cats as a prevention to the mites.

NO, The only essential oil safe for use on cats is lavender oil. This does has flea deterrant qualities but should be well diluted before use. DO NOT use any other oil on your cat.

You can dilute it in water in a spray bottle, and spray it on their bedding as well.

no. Tea tree is toxic to some animals like cats which wash themselves. Why ever do you not just go to the vet for proper flea treatments which actually work instead of mucking about with stuff that doesn't work?

Why would you want to do that? Buy Frontline. It really works whereas the old wives remedies will have you combing fleas out of your cats fur in no time.
