its about a young man dying of cancer (named the patient) and deaths comes for him in the form of a black parade because his strongest memory from childhood is his father taking him into the city to see a marching band.
and its called welcome to the black parade not the black parade

the black parade is the form that death takes for a character called "the patient" its a symbol of celebration of death.....

I love that song...but to find out what it means I would go to their website-a lot of times, they explain what different songs mean...I did this for Radiohead...
