I am 12 weeks pregnant and just found out that my blood pressure is quite a bit higher than what the doctor liked. He did suggest cutting out some stress and reducing my sodium intake, but I would like to know if there is anything else I can do as this is very early in my pregnancy to be having these kinds of problems and has me quite concerned.

Ok to make this perfectly clear, I am willing to do whatever necessary for my child, I am not asking what I can do besides, I am asking what I can do in addition to.

The key to watching your sodium intake is to read labels. Many products contain more sodium than we even imagine. Ask your doctor how many milligrams of sodium you should be consuming then count per day. Pregnancy retains fluids and may be why yours is higher.

Walking really helps and is a stress reliever.
