If you place them in water for any length of time, you will quickly ruin them. If the slats absorb any water at all, they are likely to warp. Best advice is to clean them with a damp rag and then dust them frequently. If no one in your home smokes and if you do not pan fry a lot of food, they should be fairly easy to keep clean. If you smoke or fry a lot, you will have to clean with damp cloth and even mild soap more often.

Good luck with your cleaning project.

You can place them in water - just don't leave them in there too long. Also make sure that you dry them off really good otherwise the wood will bump and raise.

Also use Pledge or some other form of cleaning wax - It helps protect the wood and makes them shinny.

I would suggest though to just take a wet clean rag and wipe them down. Then put some Pledge on another clean rag and wipe the blinds down with that after you have finished wiping them down with a wet rag.

Do not let them soak in water, they will swell. the best thing to clean wood blinds with is a wet cloth, or if they aren't too bad, use a swiffer duster, you can buy them with long fold out handles, just spray the swiffer with Pledge and dust away.

I have the exact same blinds and I so regret buying them. Mine are white. What I do is take them off the window, lay them on the grass and hose them off. Then I hang them in the garage and wipe them off, sometimes I use 209 spray or some other kitchen cleaner. We got them at Home Depot and they sold me on them because of this added chemical that is supposed to repel dust, not! I think it attracts dust! Anyway - unless I wipe them weekly - they have to come off the window! Hope yours work out better! :)
