"Many of you are well enough off that ... the tax cuts may have helped you. We're saying that for America to get back on track, we're probably going to cut that short and not give it to you."We're going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good," the former first lady Hillary Clinton admitted.

Hillary was quoted during her speech fund raiser for Barbara Boxer in San Francisco. No I am not one of the top % as far as income. I work two jobs, have two kids and run a family farm.. And you shouldn't shoot the meaasnger, this is you Dems's choice not mine.... As for the rich in this country, they pay 85% of all taxes, thats quite a bit. Any tax breaks help out the middle class , this is fact. I pay 35% on every dollar I earn too .What I don't need is the socialist Democratic Party deciding I don't need it.....

So, if they gain enough seats they just might. Common good means to me. My good(s) (which I have earned by my hard work) will be taken for the common welfare recipient.

I don't think they would tell you if it were true or not. But the Democrats have never seen a tax they didn't like.

The problem I see is every time the Democrats start talking about putting a tax the rich it's always the person that isn't rich but works his/her posterior off trying to take care of the family that gets taxed in the end (a little play on words there).

Maybe the uber-rich should pay some more in taxes. But with the tax code we have today it will never happen. They uber-rich have accountants and tax lawyers whose job it is to find the ways out. I can't afford those people so i'm stuck in the maze.

Before I'm going to vote for Democrats they are going to have to change the tax code first. Even thinking about the possibility of Democrats wanting more taxes scares me and I'm fearless.

Here's another point. What was the National budget last year 2.8 TRILLION dollars? And they came up short a few hundred BILLION? Let's quit sending lawyers to DC. Let's elect accountants!

OBTW I really liked your solution to the war in Iraq.

First of all, I'd like to know specifically when and where Senator Clinton was quoted saying that, and who was she addressing?

Second of all, any raises in taxes that the Democrats put in place would serve to reduce the national deficit. It bothers me that we're so willing to hold our children hostage to spending that we couldn't control. Even Republicans like Sean Hannity admit that spending has gotten out of control.

And lastly, if you're talking about the Democrats raising taxes, then you're probably talking about Bill Clinton's Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1993, which raised taxes on the wealthiest 1.2% of taxpayers, while cutting taxes on 15 million low-income families and making tax cuts available to 90 percent of small businesses. This bill, which both raised taxes and cut government spending, has been credited as the major cause behind the deficit reduction and eventual surpluses during the 1990s, by sources such as the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office. Oh, and by the way, EVERY Republican voted against it. They wanted to protect their wealthy interests at the expense of everyone else in the country.

Are you in the wealthiest 1.2% of taxpayers? Then by all means, be upset, scream from the mountain tops, and vote Republican. If you're not, then I think we owe it to our children to not saddle them with debts that we rang up because we weren't responsible enough to control ourselves.

And PS -- I don't see how this is "us" Dems choice. There are no guarantees that Hillary Clinton will be the Democratic candidate in '08. In fact, there's a school of thought that they believe the Clinton name is too divisive. There are other choices out there.

Absolutely. One of the fundamental principles of the Democrat party is to grow the government and create social programs that will achieve their goal of making Americans dependent on them. Since these programs cost money, Democrats tend to raise taxes. Watch out though, they will claim to have created more jobs and may even brag about a budget surplus after taking even more of your hard-earned money.

I didn't get any tax cut. What happened? Oh, I know it went to the upper middle class or the really rich! I'm in favor of tax cuts but try to make more equal like a middle class tax cut or just make a flat tax rate. I'm tired of people saying "your tax cuts are going to end" I didn't get any in the first place. I hope that democrats don't increase taxes but find a more proper way to tax.

First to revoke it, would take both houses of Congress, Pres. George would Veto it, and then the Dems would need 2/3 majority. Correct me if I am wrong!

Fairly smart,,,there you go again making stupid statements!

the tax cuts were felt for only the upper and upper middle classes who avoid most of them anyway. Income tax was not even legal until the FRD adminstration, it should be repealed

Even though it will reduce tax revenues and cause a recession like it did when they forced Bush Sr to raise taxes the Democrats will do it again.

When in power they raise taxes.
