I keep hearing that the ps3 won't be able to play ps1,and ps2 game,becaues of the blue ray thing.so, is this true?

I heard that the initial games for the ps3 or at least a few of them arent even using blu-ray technology yet anyway so it would have to be able to (but the answer is yes reguardless). They can put out amazing looking games on current discs for the PC so its mainly about the power of the unit vs the size of the disc. I believe microsoft also said even tho they are coming out with the HD DVD usb player their games will not use it...but maybe a yr or 2 down the road and they start actually get to super potential of the 360 it might change

No it's not true. Look up the review on Yahoo. They have made the PS3 backward compatible which means it can play games from both the PS2 and PS1.

Actually PS3 CAN'T play back old titles from PS1. HOWEVER if you have a PS3 and a PSP you can transfer the game from your PS3 to your PSP. So you will play old games with your PSP. Only few titles have been announced such as Twisted Metal and Syphon Filter.

no there is an infrared thing as well as blu ray it doubles with the bluray to give a sharper image so ps1 games will look sort of ps2 ish ans ps2 games will look like x box games cool huh

The system will be backward compatible with PlayStation and PlayStation 2 games.

Wont know for sure until the ps3 comes out. either will anyone else in less they are the company building it.

no its not true, you can still play all the Playstation library on the PS3.
