Nope parents name. You can get a Trac-Phone, many services out there, and then you just top up minutes with a card. But, I will assume at your age you be gabbing with all your friends, so, a contract phone be cheaper. Have fun and give us all a call when you get your phone! ;-)

You must be 18 years of age to enter into one of the legal, binding contracts used by mobile phone providers. Your only option if you want to put one in your name is to buy a pre-paid phone which you can use like a normal phone, you'll just need to pay for it ahead of time instead of receiving a bill.

If it is in your parents' names, they have the right to cancel/suspend it, get call history, etc. If it is in your name, then you are the only one with those abilities.

You cannot have a contract because you are too young. Depending on your area, you could get Metro PCS. They are only in Sacramento, ca. If you do not live in that area, I would suggest getting a go phone from cingular. You don't need a contract so it would be in your name.
