I come from Nigeria and I agree, Nigeria is a corrupt country but so what? You would find it hard to name one country in the world which was not corrupt. It has only been singled out as a corrupt country because it's faults have been broadcasted and made aware by the media. Look at the United States or even England (where I live). There is very uneven distribution of money and even though they have schemes and programs to solve these problems, none of them work. They are a waste of time and make these countries look like they are no longer corrupt when they still are. Nigeria and similar countries do not have the money and power to hide their corruptedness like the western countries do. So yes Nigeria is corrupt but it is no different from the majority of the world. The main problem in Nigeria is that It has a terrible president (Abasanjo). He is the reason Nigeria is getting such a bad name and bad press. But even so, the west knows all about bad presidents. take for examble Bush, who lead armies into Iraq to die just so he could take their oil. Abasanjo isn't even as bad as that. I hope that has given you an idea of what sort of country Nigeria is (politically). Other than that it is just like any other typical third world country. Most of the people with poor resources, food, water and services, while a fraction of a percent live their lives in opulent luxury (inc. Abasanjo).

It seems like a lot of people are so self righteous.Nigeria a corrupt country? yes. United state a corrupt country ? yes. Tom Deley, Jack Abramoff and other congress men going to jail for corruption. Iraq war, the contract awarded to Haliburton. Ex ceo of Haliburton Dick Chaney.
In a country with no resources where the people have been bambozled by the so called western world.People turn to internet fraud. I'm not making excuses for this kind of fraud , your back against the wall you will probably do worse. A lot of people responded with narrow mindedness. We are born to certain situation beyond our control ,like the color of your skin, race, religion or even sexes and even the country of your birth. Do we have to discriminate against you because of that? No, we have to respect everybody, because nobody owns the world or nobody is special. Example where are the racist of the past like some of the ignorant fools that responded to this question ? They are all dead. Did they take the world with them? Hell no. About the nigerian kidnapping people from the oil companies.I'm not making excuse for them. But their back is against the wall. Your state were the oil comes from is not provided for, people are dying of hunger and starvation and millions of barrels of petrolium worth billions of dollars is being transported daily to the United states and other countries ,where did the money go to help the people. So people get disgruntled about this madness. So for the ignorant fools you can't throw stones if you live a glass house. Do you know that there a more corruption in this country than any part of the world except it is sophisticated and only few are prosecuted. That's what's lacking in a country like nigeria. Why do you have lobbyist and political contribution? It's for political favors, but mind you United States of America is not a corrupt country.
