how do i make a pie chart on either microsoft powerpoint or Word??

Microsoft Excel is the best way. You can then copy and paste it into word.

Use Microsoft Excel. There is a chart making tool on the toolbar. You can import the chart into Word or Powerpoint.

The easiest way is to use Excel which I assume you have based on the other applications you mentionned.
Added: In Excel do the following:
Once your data is entered in the worksheet select the Chart icon on the toolbar (it has colored bars, blue, yellow and red).
Select the "Pie Chart" in the left panel of options than simply follow directions Excel will provide.
