where are the best places to go to school for arboriculture in the north east?

Probably the Stockbridge School of Agriculture, which is part of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. You'd get your associates from Stockbridge, then could choose to stay on for your bachelors. Or you could get your four year degree in forestry from UMass Amherst. Links below.

I suggest Unity College in Maine. www.unity.edu They have awesome environmental programs and are known as America's environmental college.
