I got this in an e-mail and it blew my mind. I should feel more experienced with life, but now I just feel old. Do you guys out there remember these things?
Just in case you weren't feeling too old today, this will certainly change
things.

The people who are starting college this fall across the nation were born
in 1987 . They are too young to remember the space shuttle blowing up.

Their lifetime has always included AIDS.

The CD was introduced the year they were born.

They have always had a n answering machine

They have always had cable.

Jay Leno has always been on the Tonight Show.

Popcorn has always been cooked in the microwave.

They never took a swim and thought about Jaws.!

They don't know who Mork was or where he was from.

They never heard: "Where's the Beef?", "I'd walk a mile for a Camel", or
"de plane Boss, de plane".

McDonald's never came in Styrofoam containers.

They don't have a clue how to use a typewriter

I'm only 27 and I remember all those things and more. We didn't have all that stuff but I envied my friends that did. Like the cable. I remember how excited I'd be when I'd get home from school and see that we had a free preview of the Disney channel. Lol. I remember CD's coming out because my much older brother spent all his money on them. And Jaws, I couldn't even take a shower after watching that movie because I thought he was going to come through the drain. I was so little at that time. How about the sodas being in glass bottles with the paper labels? My brothers and I would always peel them off in strips and put them in the empty bottles. How different things are now.

I think about stuff like this a lot when I see questions on here that ask about going back in time. No air conditioning and out houses are unimaginable. It's amazing how time goes by. For them, Ronald Reagan is a historical figure. I'll always remember, at about 8 years old, I got to shake hands with the son of a Civil War Veteran. Wonder what they'll think their kids have missed 50 years from now.

I remember before there was McDonald's
Where I was when JFK was killed
Fearing the A-bomb during the Cuban Missle crisis
When TV signed off after the 10 o'clock news, all three channels
No FM radio stations
No fast food
when safe sex meant no babies
know how to use a slide rule
no computers
no one had house keys/never locked the door
no rock & roll
and sooooooooo many more things!

How can I ever thank you for your gentle reminder. Now let me give away my age. I remember when AIDS was referred to as GRID (gay related immune disorder), when studio 54 was THE place in Manhattan, when the BeeGees were at the pinnacle of their career. And who can forget You light up my life. Rollerskates were the in-thing. Oh....I'm going to shut up now. But you know what, if I could turn back time, not in a million years would I go back to 18. 28...maybe. 30 definitely. But never 18.

Yes I remember those things like yesterday. It's odd how things change. Like with the cable. I remember only having 3 channels. Now kids have TV in the cars. It's amazing.

Yes, I remember all those things. My daughter (born in 1987 and started college) was playing a song on her cell phone and I told her it sounded like a transistor radio. She had never heard of a transistor radio. Thanks for the memories.
