how do I remove the shelac from a leather baseball?

baseball signed by babe ruth was shelaced. I need to remove the shellac.

Take it to a conservator or preservationist. Ask around art museums, antique shops, or estate appraisers for someone who can help. The job needs to be done by a pro'.

You can use mineral spirits but you might end up removing the signature as well. Be careful.
