Audio and visual information are the most common types of input that human beings receive, and different people will develop their memories to work better with one or the other. It is often very helpful to combine the forms. For example, I learn people's names much better if they introduce themselves while wearing a name tage. However, the sense with the strongest link to memory is actually scent.
