For a female, a leotard is best. You can wear shorts over it as long as they are not loose. No shoes or socks. If you wear a t-shirt and shorts make sure you can tuck the shirt in so it doesn't expose you when you tumble or do handstands!

If you don't have a leotard yet, or want to try it before you buy one, just wear knit short shorts and a fitted t-shirt. It'll be fine.

a leotard and some shorts over it, or pants. Even a sports bra with a fitted tank/tee over it will work (and shorts/pants). You just don't want anything dangling or hanging.
