Like on the Jay Leno show after he tells a joke the drummer makes a sound with the cymbals, what is the name for that?

It's actually NOT a rimshot, I'm a percussionist and a rim shot is when you hit the metal edge of the snare drum with the back of your drumstick. The sound you're talking about actually doesn't have a name, but it when you hit the snare twice and then the high-hat quite quickly (usually in a ti-ti-ta rythm). hope that helped!
