Or because the person in question is a democrat he will get a "free pass" this time. After all, no one was "really offended".

For those of you who don't want to go to the trouble of clicking the link, here it is:

GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Democratic U.S. House candidate Steve Kagen apologized Tuesday for commenting that he was late for a meeting on an Indian reservation because ''we're on Injun time.''

Dem = free pass. Guaranteed.

There does not seem to be the need for any investigation as there is no mystery. it was wrong and he apologized and explained.
i hawaii we always say we are on "hawaii time" when we are late. nobody gets offended. they do the same in italy and even france. its joke to mean that we are relaxed and not uptight about time like the type A personalities. it is a badge of honor, not an insult.
but it was a mistake for a politician to use it in an elcetion campaign (oops) NO BIG DEAL.
Makaka is always an insult. especially when you say "welcome to america" to a born and raised virginian just because he is dark
HEY Sen. Allen, some Virginians are dark. Deal with it.

I really hope not. I don't care who you are or what political affiliation you claim. I am so tired of not being able to just speak, to have fun, to make a joke, or be a little sarcastic without someone jumping up to investigate an innocent remark.
Elizabeth Dean said she was more joyous than Hilary Clinton, because of choices she had made. It media was salivating over thier perceived "cat fight". Thank goodness that was squashed.

did you bother to read this part of the article?

"Bobbi Webster, a spokeswoman for the Oneida Nation, said Monday that Kagen's comment was not being taken as disrespectful by tribal members. No apology was sought, she said.

''Tribal members say that themselves. It is not uncommon to hear somebody come in late and say, 'Oh-Oh. I am running on Indian time.' The time you get there is the time to do your thing,'' Webster said.

The term ''Injun'' also is not necessarily disrespectful, she said."

So what exactly is the problem here?.... two words to describe you = douche + bag.

This happened in my town...and no, there will not be an investigation. Its a "non-issue" as stated by the head of the Oneida Nation. It was a feeble attempt at a joke...and was taken clearly out of context. This happened in Green Bay, WI by Dr. Steve Kagen, a Dem running for Congress

If this had been a Republican, it would be the lead story on tonight's 3 national newsbroadcasts. Look what they did to George Allen and his macaca comment. But of course, this will never be heard of.

Double standard.

What's there to investigate? He said it, and if people don't like it they won't vote for him. I suppose you'd want George Allen "investigated" for saying macaca?

WOW! What a STUPID thing to say! I can't think of any reason NOT to play this up as much as the Trent Lott fiasco, can you?

Amusing how deeply dittoheads are willing to shovel to dig up dirt on a democrat. Funny that they feel that they must so that their own shortcomings dont look and feel so bad.

No there will be no investigation. What is left to "investigate"?
