i have an old german/austrian hanging wine decantor. there is a label on the bottom with the word REAL impossed over the symbol for male, company name i assume. it also says artikel-nr. and then a #. does anyone have any thoughts on the worth or any info on this piece? thanks for your help.

depends on how old you estimate the piece... REAL is a quite huge departmentstore chain here in germany, but i cant connect he symbol you describe to it. also it is not more than 15 years old, originating in the merging of several older but completely differently named chains.
anyway, i think the fact that it has an embossed article number (artikel-nr.) puts it safely in the realm of cheaply crafted 'gift grade' household devices. ( i bet you it has metal vine leaves all round).
as a matter of fact, i think i used to see these things around here in the late eighties and early nineties.
