Yes I feel that it is reasonable time frame, But for it to work the Iraq government must start doing what they need to do to make this work as a democracy. They can't honestly expect ust to stay and babysit forever.

the problem is, at this piont we are more than waist deep pulling out now or even in 18-20 mos if the region isnt stable would be an even larger problem. Sometimes i wonder if they were really thinking long term when they decided to go to war. we are going to be there for atleast 5 more years. there is also nothing to say that we arent going to have American troops consistantly present from that point on.

No. In every war there have been many years involved in our leaving. The Iraqis will not be ready in 20 months much less 5 years to run a democratic country. It will take many years with us removing troops slowly. We did the same in Vietnam. We still haven't left Korea. It will take time.

Not unless we start to see and make some real changes and improvements.
Without establishing something resembling a rule of law before we leave is only going to make things worse.
I would suggest forcing the Iraqi government to disarm all the private militias.

I think we have to do it. Sadly, there probably isn't a good time. We created a vacuum when we removed Saddam. Don't get me wrong, he had to go but there is nobdy in place that can hold it all together. 2 months or 20 months, either way all heeck is gonna break loose when we leave.

We shouldn't have a timetable. If you tell a crook when your not gonna be home, what will happen.
