Anyone with bug zapping experience? Pros? Cons?

They work but they very rarely kill the bugs you want to kill. For instance, mosquitoes are attracted to CO2 and not the UV light bug zappers use so it will have almost no effect on mosquito population. They do kill a lot of insects that either are neutral or beneficial. Many insects that birds and bats eat can be killed. They weren't going to bother you anyway.

There are mixed answers. Some people claim they work and they do zap bugs. Others claim that the zapper draws bugs and the net result was negative. Alot of bugs got zapped but alot more bugs were attracted to the area. I find that citronella torchs, candles, coils, etc are far more effective...and I live in the woods where bugs are plentiful. Never would consider a zapper.

My family used to have a bug zapper. It zapped the bugs all right- but it drew the bugs into the area first too.

They do work but the instructions recommend placing the unit away from the house because the light will attract bugs.
