My ex friend, and brother's ex girlfriend won't leave my family or myself alone. I've tried the conventional ways (cops, flat out telling her etc) and nothing so far has been successful. So i appeal to you, psychology fans for hopefully some intellegent advise. thanks.

Well the cops probably won't do much till its almost too late. The best way to deal with stalkers, according to The National Center for Victims of Crimes is to first tell them "no"...one time. Even talking to them one time is encouragement. It is kind of a catch 22, ignoring them will make them angry but talking to them...just once is an invitation to keep stalking you.
Remember....they aren't going to get bored and go away...
The NCVC recommend that you document every time you have contact...contact can as simple as them watching you from across a street.
If you can get a TRO, if they violate it...have them picked up...don't back down from this and don't pity or feel sorry for them if they go to jail.
I know that stalking seems funny to some people and trivial to others but many people die each year at the hand of their stalkers.
Check out these web sites they are very informative.

I think a video camera works wonders. They're small and relatively cheap. Just be sure to narrate time and location and why you turned on the camera each time you do. If you get a restraining order, and they violate it, video evidence is hard to refute. But I've got a feeling that if you whip out the video camera every time they're stalking you, they'll quickly make themselves scarce. Even better--act like you're hiding the camera (even though you know they see it)!

If the cops aren't willing to do their job, bug your county sherriff, local prosceutor, and your state police. If you still can't get them to help, start bugging your state atty. gen., daily, by phone.
You have a right to assistance from the law.
Making them do their part isn't always easy. Squeaky wheels,
get greased.

Record the stalking (phone recordings or video), and send a copy of the tape to the stalker. If this doesn't work, send copies to her friends and family.

If they are in your proximity and stalking you in a public place, say very loudly, stop stalking me you weirdo, you are always following me! It could work, on the level of social embarressment as stalkers are usually introvert and secretative. Good luck.

My advise is: ignore them.. don't let them think that they affect you.. It's like with little children.. if they don't think that it has any affect, they will stop eventually. That is.. as long as they don't become violent.. if so, you defenitely have to call in the cops..
