Go the ball, Queenie... and partake in a bit of shagging... or take me as your date... and I will on your behalf.... I hear you work with some fine looking men.

Don't go. They never have anything to do with Christmas. You are right when you say they are 'shag-fests'. Stay home and rent "Jesus of Nazareth" Christmas will mean so much more after seeing that.

I find that I don't want to try to pretend to enjoy the company of people that I normally spend all day trying to avoid.
This year, I have taken the easy way out and told them I am not going. No one has asked why, and I don't think they really give a ****.
I'll have a steak and a bottle of wine at home instead, enjoy the meal without having to try to converse with someone I have nothing in common with, get a bit drunk without the responsibility of driving, so I can relax.
sounds good to me!

Queenie I never went to my work do's either, I always had an event I had to go to instead that night when they asked, I don't do anything I don't want to do and neither should you, who cares if your noticeable by your absence, won't they all be too drunk to notice who was there anyhow, I'm not into flings with other men and didn't see why I should have to watch people cheat all night long just because they could.

Rise above them and give the party a miss, don't force yourself to go if you know you're not going to enjoy it. Don't feel you have to go just because they will notice if you are not there, think about yourself for a change.
I always give these parties a miss as I don't like seeing people I normally respect, make complete fools out of themselves.

Well Madam of course you should go.
You will get no better opportunity to surreptitiously poison all your co-workers. This can both greatly increase your chances of promotion and ensure no further such gathering are undertaken.
Working together we can crush all of the joy from life, (and indeed all the life from Joy).
Go on.
You know you want to.......
Trust me....

Make an appearance but say that you are meeting a friend from out of town somewhere and leave early. Or... stay and watch everyone else make fools of themselves.

Definitely go. I just think of it as a good opportunity to watch your co-workers act like jackasses and do things they wouldnt want anyone else to know about. Knowledge is power.

Listen Queen my advise to you is, if you dont enjoy going to them dont go, there will be no point. Nothing worse than being somewhere you dont want to be. Go out with your own mates and have a ball.
