I was just reading about menopause and wondering why hot flashes are so terrible that women resort to antidepressants to deal with them. Also wondering how you deal with other symptoms and what they're like, since I will be there shortly.

They just feel like someone just turned on the heater. Yes, you just feel hot and sweaty, then it goes away. I have eaten soy all of my life so I don't have many problems. I find that cutting down on sugar helps alot for hot flashes.

night sweats and hot feeling body one moment and the next moment freezing cold chills.. winter time you will find some relief by going outside without a coat 4 the hot flashes.. noo, its not painful.. just all fun n games : ) but i won't advise you, 2 take estrogen. thats bad news with breast cancer side affects.. bummer eh.. there will be time's when you think you have murder on your mind.. and the blood flow is soo much heavier, that you think your gonna die from loss of blood.. and they call it the golden years.. hmm after 50, the slide down hill comes fast.. put your ski's on, your in 4 one hell of a ride : )

I think that hot flashes make you unbearably hot (uncomfy), but go with mood swings (angry/crying), so you are both physically and emotionally a mess... that's why they are so terrible. My mom deals with these symptoms by freezing/melting us, also by beating/cuddling her love ones. J/K, she tries not to take it out on us....

Sweaty. It's like you get hot all of the sudden. It's horribly uncomfortable....like you want to peel your skin off or run around in your britches sort of hot.

hot flashes are not painful you just get sweaty a lil lite headed and then you get cold and sometimes a liul moody

it feels like your head is in an oven and you have sweat running down you back AND your face is BRIGHT red...then they get bad...Lots of women have no symptoms and many women have multiple symptoms. look here:
