When I look it up, that's all I can find... I thought that it was older than that.

Jim Steinman, Meat's musical lyricist wrote the song and Meatloaf sang it with Karla DeVito and Ellen Foley. One did the original song and one (DeVito) did the video with him as well as tour.

Many of Meatloaf song's did appear on one of Steinman's albums, Bad for Good but Paradise wasn't one of them. Steinman had also written Total Eclipse of the Heart for Bonnie Tyler and a number of songs for other individuals.

Steinman's other claim to fame is the Broadway (unfortunate flop) Dance of the Vampires-where you can totally hear the music of many Meatloaf tunes and Total Eclipse. The real notch in Steinman's belt though was that Michael Crawford, the original Phantom of the Opera took the lead in Steinman's show as the Count! Great show but the critics killed it. The show is still playing in Europe!

It is from the Album "Bat Out of Hell", all of which was written by Jim Steinman and recorded originally by Meatloaf. The Stienman/Meatloaf duo was kind of like Elton John and Bernie Taupin, where the singer was a household name but almost no one knew the main songwriter/lyricist.

Definitely a Meatloaf original. Much like Meatloaf himself. You gotta either love him or hate him; no in-betweens!

That's one of my favorite songs and i'm pretty sure that Meatloaf is the only one who sang it originally. Should be cool if someone covers it
