Amare Stoudemire is awesome, but he isn't a center. He may play the 5 periodically, but dude is a 4......pure power forward. Ben Wallace is an offensive liabillity. Shaq is old and probably won't play another full season. Yao Ming is the best center in the NBA this season.

Amare needs to prove he can still play before you consider him the best at anything. Then again, if you think Big Ben is one of the best centers in the league you obviously don't know much about the game. One of the best defensive centers...yes. One of the best centers...not a chance. Yao is probably the best true center in the league, and yes that includes Shaq.

amare stoudemire is NOT a center. he is a power forward. he came into the league at the 4 spot. phoenix didn't have a center and just decided to use him. the rest is history. naturally, he's a PF. ben wallace is also a PF but plays trhe C. the guys only 6-9. there are no true legitimate centers in the nba anymore. the last we've seen was yao ming

A healthy Amare is still not better than a Injured Shaq ! Numbers Game as follows

Look it up if you dont believe me. 2003/04 season

Amare had 300 points less than Shaq, 300 rebounds Less than Shaq, 100 Assist less than Shaq, 30 more steals than Shaq, 100 less blocks than Shaq, 20 less turnovers less than Shaq.
His FG% was lower than Shaq , although his FT% was better.

Wallace is not an all round player by no means, his defense is unmatched but his offense is awhole different story.

Yao Numbers in his first season was far superior to Amare, and Duncan is in a class all by himself.

If I had to rate them
1.Shaq
2.Duncan
3.Yao Ming
4. Amare
5.Wallace.

Sorry i didn't see your way but it is an opinion based question

Amare isn't technically a center, he is more of a power forward. No he is not the best. Yao Ming, Tim Duncan, Ben Wallace, Dwight Howard, and Shaquille O'Neal are all better than Amare.

Don't get me wrong I would like to see him come back and be awesome, but as yet he is unproven.

I think it's Shaq is the best then Amare and then Ben Wallace a close third.

Tim Duncan is better than all of them. Shaq is on the downside of his career, Wallace doesn't score. Amare has a ways to go but he can be one of the great ones for sure.

Amare is not a center, he's a small forward that plays big. He really isnt a POWER forward. But who cares, the suns dont need to fill every position, they just need guys that can run with steve nash since they dont play that much D.

Amare had a similar injury to Webber. Sorry to bust your bubble but he will never be as good as he was before the injury and he will always be more prone to get injured again. He is still top 10.

I think he will have to split time with Diaw and Thomas to keep him fresh. Diaw just got a n extension which means the Suns think Amare is injury prone.
