I'm a Vietnam veteran, and that is what I've always held against Bush. Those of us from that era know that it took PI (political influence) to get accepted into the National Guard. The guard was never deployed to Vietnam.
To get out of going to Vietnam, poor people had to go to Canada. Rich people got into the Guard.

Good point.
Sad, though.
As children, we naturally tend to disrespect our parents...especially during our teen years.
However, it is a clear sign of stupidity when, as an adult, we do not acknowledge the intelligence and wisdom our elders might have.
President Bush had every opportunity to glean some wisdom and sage advice from his father before his blunder in Iraq.
His dad made an intelligent decision back in 1991 to NOT invade Iraq.
And what is even more pathetic is that President Bush majored in history while at Yale.
Something tells me that he probably skipped a few classes, just like he did during his Texas Air National Guard duty.
Oh, well!
Those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it.

Yeah, just like Clinton was with his "comrades" in Russia at the Moscow University while his peers were in Vietnam.
Your attempt at derision is as paltry as your historical sense.
