5 or 6 years old. Repairman says around $900 to fix. New one $1500. Got Christmas coming up second term college tuitions.

Sounds like your compressor went down or has a leak in the lines. The expense is for labor and how many pounds of coolant it will take to refill it. And if the compressor went down once, trust me, it will go down again.

Try craigslist.com for another one, or look in the papers for a used fridge for now and a small deep freeze. Save as much money as you can for Christmas.

Wow I boght a stainless steel Frigidair for like 600.00 shop somewhere else,and dont pay that much to get it fixed.

Outrageous price for repair. Go to following website and see if you might find what problem could be (could be no more than defrost timer stuck). www.acmehowto.com/. I also believe I would go to discount store and check on price of their products.
