Something colorful that can sit in the room with them, like flowers or a figurine, a painting, etc. Something that will brighten the room for anyone.

Well, it all depends on how far along the Alzheimer's is? If it isn't that advanced, then I would suggest a diary. So, I could write down everything that I remember, and maybe things that are going on at that time. Then I wouldn't forget. I mean, at least it would give them hope for the time that they still can write and read. Kinda like the movie 50 first dates. They can learn everyday, what there life has been like. Otherwise if this wouldn't work, I think anything that would make this person feel comfortable....maybe a family picture. But if it is way advanced....you never ending love is all that I think that could be given.

A portable CD player and some Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennet or Diane Reeves CDs.

The best gift would be to give him or her company. Alzheimers patients feel better when they have someone to visit them.
