It could be normal, based on something different in his diet. It could also be a mild case of diarrhea, which should pass within a few days. If it was truly bright green, it could be that he ate or drank something blue -- blue mixed with yellowish poop makes green. I know that if my kids have blue popsicles/candy/fruit snacks/etc., they sometimes end up with green poop. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

More than likely something you ate. Some foods with a lot of dye in them can do it. I have seen rainbow ice cream turn stool green.
