I have recently installed a small 3 man hot tub. The pump works great until I turn the heater on. Once the heaer is on it runs for only 10 to 15 mins and trips the reset button on the control box. Any suggestions? FYI. This is an older Leisure Bay brand hot tub.

It sounds like the heating element may be on it's way out... or, One other thing could be the wire going to the tub may not be thick enough causing high amp draw, which trips the reset? Usually 8 gauge works the best....

Hopefully you were told that you need a separate electric line for your hot tub connection. Hopefully you have a GIF plug. You are also out of code if you don't have a dedicated line to the tub. All the electric inthe house or the line you are using is competing with your hot tub if you don't have a separate line. Kind of like having the refrigerator, micorwave, lights, and electric stove and you use the toaster...poow electric goes. If you do have a separate line you then need to check and see if the heater is compatible for the size tub you are using. Your hot tub should have a manual or you can go on line to get the requirements.

Lamont has it right, Juncogirl, you have NO clue what you're saying, electricity competing..... BWhahaha, some smaller tubes DO NOT require a separate circuit and whats a GIF outlet? IT'S GFCI (Ground fault circuit interrupting) If you don't know it's better to keep quiet!
