That movie was a slap in the face of all the people who drowned. Its ridiculous plotting wasn't worthy of a Harlequin romance, and the the producer obviously couldn't bear to cut five minutes of it.

The endless chase scene between Leo and Billy Zane while the ship is vertical boggles the mind. I also want to know how good old Rose managed to find Jack shackled in the hold of a 5 bazzillion square foot ship. Or why the lights were still on. Or why she couldn't share the floating board with him if she really loved him so much.

In real life, the poor people did indeed drown. That was the only part of the movie that actually had any depth (no pun intended) to it at all. In real life, there were many heroic actions on the part of the passengers that this movie didn't bother to depict. IT was all about a selfish woman and her lover. There were so many other stories that could have been told but.......

As for a theft, I take it you're referring to the movie version??? That's all bull. The producer got the name of the ship right, and that was about it. I'm sorry, but this was a major disapointment and basically an ego trip for the guy at the Oscars.

There have been several excellent books written that are based on fact, not Hollywood. Google search for some of those, and you will be amazed at the courage some folks had.
