Around 30 years ago, joint families were considered a boon. Nowadays, we see them only in EKTA KAPOOR`S teleserials. All the members jointly did house hold cores. Income from every member collectively would take care of entire family expenses. Where are such things now? Selfishness of the ladies in the households and Joru Ka Ghulam nature of the males has made the joint families a rare phenomenon. Advantages have been converted into disadvantages and the BOON has been converted into CURSE. People have started earning more money but lost the peace (or piece) of minds. ANALYSE.

Hey! Are you a professor? You make it appear like a question in the Social Sciences paper of a post graduation examination.
You have discussed the merits of a joint family yourself. So it doesn't need further elaboration. As the educated classes decided to enter the job sector in a big way, discarding traditional professions like agriculture, they began to move out of their homes to find jobs in big cities and far away places. This, besides selfish interests triggered the breakdown of joint families as you have rightly mentioned.
One noticeable thing nowadays is the large number of women including housewives who are coming out to work and earn. In a nuclear family (husband, wife and one or two kids) with one or both members earning, what is assured is financial sufficiency. The problems are many. If either spouse is ill, the other might not be able to manage a leave to stay at home and look after him/her. The children all to themselves for the better part of the day develop undesirable habits like selfishness or might even go astray. If however the wife isn't a working woman, such problems are less. But she has to take care of evrything singlehandedly. Save the domestic help and her husband after he returns from work, there is nobody to help her. Is there any real peace of mind here? The answer is obvious.
Overall, the losses are more on account of breakdown of the joint family system which was unique to India and traditionally suited to Indian family values.

joint families are a boon as well as a curse, out of many of the joint families i have seen, people are unhappy due to the interference of other family members. joint families are also good only if the people are well committed with each other leaving aside differences. children in a joint family can grow up much well mentally as well as emotionally

Does the matter really need analysis? Boon and bane are nothing but both sides of a coin. Individual has to Analise to which side he has to stick to and eke out life. That's all.

Joint family is a boon. In a joint family, children grow up well both mentally and physically. They learn to share things,to adjust with others,to understand other's emotion well. on the other hand children living in a nuclear family are very much pampered. They are very much selfish. They learn one thing surely and that is they only understand their own profit. they are not so well mannered. They donot know the love value of love of grandparents,of uncles, aunts etc.
