Just because you were charged more for the postage does not mean that the person ripped you off.... He had to drive to the post office, mail the package, box the package, use tape and gas.... was time too - that you weren't charged.... typically if you agree with the postage, you buy the item.... or contact the seller to see if he's willing to go less. It is NOT agains e-bay rules.

You already knew the cost of the postage as it is stated. Sellers are able to charge a reasonable cost to cover ebay fees, paypal fees, packing, trip to post office and postage.

When you are buying any item you have an idea of the size and approximate weight, and you can estimate the postage cost. You also didn't say what the item is or what you paid. Some sellers raise the cost of the postage to cover a low sales price on the item.

You should always make sure you are happy with the price of the postage before you buy. As when you confirm your bid it is asking you to confirm the bid, and that you agree to the postage and that you are able to pay buy the sellers required payment terms.

What happens is you are charged not only for the postage but also for packaging too , sometimes even if the person has to get a BUS to the Post Office , this has happened loads to me , also by charging more on postage they can lower their starting price so you get the item cheaper and the seller gets more for their product- the reason for this is Ebay does not charge any fee's for postage but does on starting price , I hope this is not too confusing ,

It happens all the time, its how most people make there money, its also the packaging and sellers time that your paying for as well, and you were aware of the price of the postage before you bought the item, that's how eBay works.

some people who have lots of items on ebay set a standard charge for all items. others add high postage costs to gain a few quid extra to cover the loss on the item they are selling. if you bid on the item then you agreed to sellers T&Cs. no point complaining afterwards.

No, you have no recourse. You agreed to the terms and conditions, you knew what the postage charge was up front and you agreed to pay it (irrespective of what it actually would be). You should not even dream of leaving a negative feedback. The seller will fry you over that by reporting you to eBay and requesting a mediation, and you will be be left with the negative mark on your record. Buyer beware.

Most people make a bit of cash on postage. Just the way it is.

You can report him to ebay for excessive shipping and handling charges:

http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/listing-shipping.html

There is a link at the bottom of that page where you can report him.

But don't leave the seller a negative. As lots of people have said before me, when you bid you agreed to the terms of that listing, whatever they were. If he didn't say what the shipping charges were in the listing you should have asked beforehand. So if you're disappointed in what you were charged for shipping, it is kind of your fault. Maybe leave him a positive or maybe a neutral and comment on how ridiculous the shipping is.

its scandalous aint it what some of them charge for postage and packaging. yet i will always check first on postage before i bid. and as a seller myself i always put low p&p to attract more bids and it works. however when i was new to ebay i first brought something that was buy out now for £1 which i did but didnt realise the postage was £15 just so they avoided fees. just learn by it x

WHEN YOU BID YOU SEE HOW MUCH IS THE POSTAGE.IF YOU DON'T AGREE DO NOT BID.
POSTAGE AND PACKAGE CAN BE AS MUCH AS THE SELLER WANTS.
DONT TRY TO BE CLEVER.YOU AGREED ON THE TERMS,YOU WON,YOU PAY.IF YOU DONT LIKE THE POSTAGE YOU MUST CONTACT THE SELLER BEFORE YOU BID.
MR POSTMAN.
