What exactly do you do on Christmas?

2006-10-24 08:23:42 · 16 answers · asked by Anonymous in Society & Culture Holidays Christmas

Kymmy Kin,

My favorite things are looking at the Christmas tree and (sometimes) sledding (even though I'm in college). I give thanks to God every Christmas for my parents, who I lost at a young age.

Thanks for asking though.

One of my favorite things is to get up early and put some Christmas music on, light candles, put a pot of coffee on, cook bacon, make cinnamon rolls, and let the fragrance of the morning wake up my family. Then we thank God for each other and his son and start opening gifts. Just hearing the oohs and ahhs and the laughter makes my heart sing. What are some of your favorite things???????

Wake up early and make coffee, let the children hand out the present and open them. Try to stop the little ones from taking all the presents and climbing up the tree.

We try to remind them about the reason for the season - JESUS

Then after they have eaten every chocolate thing try to persuade them to eat breakfast.

Phone the families and wish them a Merry Christmas. Play with toys, cook some special lunch (roast chicken??) and eat lots of Christmas Cake!!

We have had people over for Christmas lunch often so we may do that (we only decide a few days before)

Eat lunch, laze around for the afternoon, take a break!

I no-matter-what always go to the best-lighted local neighborhood and awe over the beautiful christmas lights. I also love trimming the tree... and yes sledding lol That morning we wake up around 8 and open gifts, eat breakfast and hang out as a family all day. Around 4 we eat our feast!

When someone questions the meaning of Christmas, I like to enlighten them on what Christmas really means.
First of all, Christmas is a man made invention. You will never find it in the Bible. You will also never find what day Jesus was born in the Bible. Some scholars speculate that he may have been born in the latter half of Summer due to the weather conditions in the Middle East.
As for December 25th, this is really a day for the Iranian God of light in ancient times. Eventually the Celtics adopted and changed this belief to suit there purpose. As time went on and the Catholic religion became powerful, the Catholics wanted to convert the Celtic heathen, but did'nt want to embark on a long costly war. The Catholics eventually "Christianized" the Celtic beliefs in order to convert them. Many Celtic beliefs were adopted such as the X-mas tree. Giving gifts was adopted by the 3 wise men bringing gifts to Jesus. These 3 wise men were actually astrologers who had a mission of finding Jesus, so that they can report to King Herod, who would then sent troops to kill the newborn king. God intervened in the dreams of these astrologers to never return to King Herod, and they never did out of fear of God.
Eventually though, celebrating the "birth" of Christ was passed on and modified to become a festive occasion, and a good money maker for businesses. Biblically however, Jesus only commanded us to observe his death with bread and wine to symbolize his body and blood. His birth was never mentioned for memorializing.
This brings a whole different light on Christmas (no pun intended) as you can see. There's plenty of info to support what I mention here. Feel free to find it in librarys, bookstores, internet, etc.
Christmas may be fun, but it's all based on lies.

Have a late breakfast of home made pasteries and hot cider- maybe scrambled eggs and waffles and hot chocolate. Christmas is the only time I like to have breakfast late.
