I would say dude or dudette you need to get some help. You are unconsciously committing suicide. If your a family member or friend of an addict, let them know you care but can't help them. They need to make a choice and get into rehab fast. Drugs and Booze are not the answer to any problem. Also suggest them going to a NA meeting or AA. Go with them if they don't want to go alone. Best wishes. Been there with a son he is in rehab and has been there over 1 month. I give him support and will not ever enable his habit.

Addicts need help and support, not sympathy. It's no use shouting at them saying "you've got to stop". Most addicts know that they have to stop but that is the nature of addiction. Contact your local Social Services to see if there are any programmes in your area that would help. Don't force the addict to go there but try to use persuasion. How do I know this? I am an alcoholic in recovery.

You cannot help them unless they WANT to be helped. Me and My mom have gone through this with my uncle. He has had three relapses, and now is going twards a promising future with his new wife.
Unfortunately I learned at a VERY young age, sometimes they have to hit rock bottom before they can climb up.

It's not what can you say, it's wjhat can you DO?

Be the only stable thing in their lives. That's why people turn to usage, because they feel their lives are unstable, if you show them, then it will be easier for them to climb out of a very deep grave. Good luck and remember, just be there.

No words in the world are going to help someone that does not want or will not accept help.

[I] am here for you, but you also got to get help. Help them find a good 12-step program. They need mentors, accountability partners, and friends like you to get clean.
