I have a Mcaffee internet security, on my computer, but I am now due to change over to Norton internet security.
I have used the add and remove (incontrol panel) But it has not completely removed all Mcaffee.

Does anyone know how to completely remove Mcaffee out of the way, so that it does not interfere with Norton that I am due to install?

Start, Control Panel, Add and remove programs, Click on program you want to remove and then press remove. That is the only way as far as I know. Install Norton over this and it may ask you if you want to remove a previous copy.

usually companies like Mcaffee and Norton have uninstallers on their websites. You may be able to find some info there.

i was just reading that windows xp hides some system software. to make it show you use edit or notepad. edit the textfile/windows/inf/sysoc.inf, search for the word hide and remove it.
then go to add or remove programmes on your control panel and it should be there to remove.
i dont really understand what to do but then im a bit o a computer dummy lol but am going to persevere as i have some software that wont completely remove as well. hope this helps!

no no no dont use norton. if you must change get AVG i have used it for years and never been infected with a virus. have heard so many bad things about norton from friends and people on here. norton is cr^p. stick with mcafee or use one of the many free ones avg is about the best. go to programs file find mcafee and delete it.

uninstall or go to www.downloads.com to find a program that uninstalls programs that sometimes dont want to come off of the computer's registry. Search for "uninstallers" and with internet security programs.. parts of it always stay in the registry. Dont tamper with the registry if you dont know what youre doing. I've known people who have ruined the computer that way. Hope this helps! but if you do go to start
